Week 4


This weeks devlog brought to you by: every sticky note in my workplace! 

Since I missed last week I thought I'd open with all of my concept art and code on a whiteboard:


From week 2, I've added a start screen, a functional level, a game over screen, and two enemies (though one of them doesn't do much).

Introducing, the squid!  An adorable little guy who just wants to eat your plane. With it's eye. 


The squid will chase your plane persistently, alongside its fellow squids. As soon as it sees you it won't let you rest. 

And the truck!


Chances are you missed this little dude in the last build, don't worry! It's not quite ready yet. In future versions it will shoot at you and the aliens chasing you, but for now it's just cheering you on. 

The first level is completed too, though I won't post the art of it here. Try playing through this week's build yourself if you'd like to see the whole level. 

Various difficulties have also been added! If you tried hard mode first, I apologise. Hard was the original intended speed but after some feedback from my family (all of them shouting variations of the word AH!) I reduced it to something more reasonable. Future updates may see a medium difficulty, or a speed slider, allowing you to customise your plane's speed.
